What’s on the ASVAB Math Test?
The ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) determines which military jobs you qualify for and whether you can enlist. Two of its subtests are math, and both count toward your all-important AFQT score.
Arithmetic Reasoning (AR) is made of word problems — ratios, rates, percentages, proportions, and basic algebra in real situations. Mathematics Knowledge (MK) tests algebra, geometry, exponents, and number properties directly.
On the computer-adaptive CAT-ASVAB there are about 15 questions per subtest (the paper version has more). A calculator is not allowed, so build your mental-math speed.
Scoring: AR and MK combine with the verbal subtests to form your AFQT percentile (1–99). Each branch sets a minimum (often around 31–36+) — higher scores open more jobs.
