What’s on the PSAT Math Test?
The PSAT/NMSQT is the practice SAT run by the College Board. Taken mainly by sophomores and juniors, it previews the SAT and (for juniors) qualifies students for the National Merit Scholarship Program.
Like the SAT, the PSAT is now fully digital and adaptive. The Math section has 44 questions across two modules with a 70-minute limit, and a built-in Desmos calculator is allowed on every question.
The content matches the SAT: Algebra (linear equations and systems), Advanced Math (quadratics, exponentials, functions), Problem-Solving & Data Analysis (ratios, percentages, statistics), and Geometry & Trigonometry.
Scoring: PSAT Math is scored from 160 to 760 (slightly below the SAT’s 200–800), and the total PSAT score ranges 320–1520. Strong PSAT scores preview a strong SAT.
